Game Week Logistics and Rules Review

All -- 6 days and counting till our Flag Football tournament. I wanted to take a moment and communicate a few follow up items and requests. All of this information is also posted on our BLOG @ http://bhstakesports.blogspot.com

1. This event is for Elder's Quorums and HP Groups only. Young Men are not invited to play in this tournament. We may change this for future events. Also, please invite your non-member friends.

2. Each team please bring:

a. official flag football flags or fabric FLAGS at least 18" in length for your team that are visible and capable of being removed :-).
b. 4 pylons or markers to mark an end zone
c. Team football/footballs
d. drinks, snacks, etc
e. Great sportsmanship and missionary attitude.

3. Basic general rules -- we will briefily review again at the beginning of the tournament on Saturday

We anticipate the fields to be roughly 50-70 yards long and 25-30 yards wide.

There will be no kick-offs. Each team will start their posession at their 5 yard line.

Each team will have 4 downs to make it to the half and 4 downs to make it to the end zone. If a team loses possession, the opposing team initiates possession from the spot of the turnover on downs. If a team elects to kick the ball, the opposing team then initiates possession at their 5 yard line.

The line of scrimmage will be marked with a 10 yard rushing line (rope) eliminating "apple" count. Any rushers need to line up behind that rushing line. All other players may play up to the line of scrimmage but cannot rush. Rush can immediately occur in the (a) event of a run play and (b) once the primary rusher has crossed the line of scrimmage.

No QB runs unless the rusher breaks the line of srimmage. Unlimited running plays (hand-off's, pitches, etc) otherwise.

Every player is an eligible receiver.

This is a "no-touch" game which means NO contact blocking or tackling. First offense is penalty and warning, Second offense is penalty and DQ of the player, third offense is penalty, and forfeiture of the game.

No flag defending. Cannot swipe hands away from flags. Flags must be visible and easily removed. Runner is marked down where the flag falls or is removed.

Scoring -- 6pts for a touchdown. Extra points line up at the 5 yard line. Pass extra point is worth 1 pt and Run extra point is worth 2 pts.

Time -- 2 -- 20 minute halfs. The entire tournament will be wrapped by 4PM.

Brackets -- we currently have 9 teams registered but need to finalize count for the brackets based upon confusion around YM participation. We are expecting a 7 team, double elimination tournament.
